The Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture is the cornerstone of the government's efforts to lead the development of the vital agricultural sector in Palestine. We play a pivotal role in providing a comprehensive framework that guides the efforts of civil society organizations and international bodies, ensuring the unification of activities that support and develop the agricultural sector through the implementation of ambitious government development plans.

Our team comprises highly qualified staff with diverse technical and administrative expertise, distributed across the Palestinian governorates. All operate within a hierarchical sectoral structure led by the Minister of Agriculture, ensuring the achievement of our shared goals in building a prosperous and sustainable agricultural sector.

The Ministry's efforts are complemented by the work of the Palestinian Agricultural Lending Institution, established by the Palestinian government in 2015 under Law No. (8) of 2015. This institution aims to empower Palestinian farmers and agricultural companies to access the necessary loans for establishing and developing agricultural projects, agricultural processing projects, and providing production inputs, in line with the agricultural sector's development strategy. Although the institution is still in its establishment and development phase, it represents a vital government tool for supporting agricultural growth.

"Sustainable agriculture, competitive locally and internationally, actively contributes to enhancing national food security and the Palestinian citizen's connection to his land, and strengthens his sovereignty over his resources, thus contributing to building the foundations of an independent Palestinian state."

Our message

The Ministry of Agriculture's mission is to provide comprehensive, high-quality services to those working in the agricultural sector. These services include agricultural research and extension, specialized training, veterinary care, and plant protection. We also strive to improve the efficient use of agricultural natural resources, aiming to increase the profitability of Palestinian farmers, ensure the sustainability of natural resources for future generations, guarantee the quality of agricultural production, and strengthen the Palestinian farmer's connection to their land.

Our Tasks and Functions

As the leading government body in driving development and modernization efforts in the agricultural sector, our main tasks and functions are defined as follows:

1. Preparing and implementing strategies, plans, and programs aimed at developing and modernizing the agricultural sector, in full cooperation and coordination with all partners in the agricultural development process.

2. Preparing laws, regulations, and bylaws governing agricultural work, with the participation of all relevant parties.

3. Providing an integrated system for monitoring, evaluating, and overseeing all operations and activities in the agricultural sector.

4. Providing agricultural support services to those working in the agricultural sector.

5. Implementing protection policies for farmers and agricultural products.

6. Implementing activities, projects, and programs not carried out by other institutions.

7. Concluding regional and international agricultural cooperation agreements and opening markets for agricultural products in cooperation with relevant authorities.

8. Working to improve and protect the competitiveness of agricultural products in local and international markets.

9. Providing databases and information systems related to the agricultural sector, in coordination with relevant authorities.
